“The Residence
Built in the 1960s in Ménilmontant, the Pressoir housing estate is home to 2,000 residents in five blocks of flats surrounded by green spaces.
Photographer Magali Delporte was living there with her family when it was first confined.
For several weeks, she immortalised the initiatives of its occupants: impromptu concerts, school on the lawns, sports sessions, etc. Three years later, this collection of photos has been published, accompanied by two fine texts by the historian Ivan Jablonka and the journalist Fabrice Arfi. Fabrice Arfi. This book does more than simply retrace what was an extraordinary episode. It also reveals a facet of the great ensembles that is rarely brought to the fore, in which humanity, mutual aid and poetry play the leading role.
